Welcome to my website. Pull up a chair and let's talk. First pour yourself a cup of coffee, tea or a glass of wine. Get comfy. If it's cold get a blanket and cozy yourself up in your favorite spot.
First allow me to introduce myself. My name is, Audrey Burt Saha. (Montreal born) wife (Kunal), mother of two (Manisha and Keyan), dog mom (Bagou), President & Founder of a Charitable organization (S.Au.S.- autism_is_our_cause), autism advocate, proud Canadian, runner (Boston marathoner 2013 & 2014), empath and creative brain. Of the many hats I wear my most treasured one is that of "A Mama Bear" but that doesn't mean I believe in the martyrdom of motherhood. Our sister, mentor, friend Glennon Doyle speaks of this in her book "Untamed". She shows us that we can be good moms and be true to ourselves. This book is why I am here - to sing my heart's song.
I want to share a story with you. Growing up I dreamed of being a singer. I could see myself up on stage, bright lights and a big audience. Something told me that one day people would know me. Whenever my parents had friends over I begged to sing to them. My parents desperately wanting to rush me off to bed would give in - just one song! I was persistent and wouldn't take no for an answer. There I stood in the doorway swaying side to side in my full length nightgown belting out Tammy Wynette. As promised after the song was over I would take my bow, eat up the applause and go to bed. Everyone was happy. Sadly, I never learned to sing but I did find my voice and I have been up on stage. My voice was found when I became an autism advocate.
In spring 2018, I took a leap of faith and decided to write my first blog and called it
"Autism Mama Bear". It is about the inner workings of my life, particularly as a mother to a boy with Level 3 autism (severe autism). The response was overwhelmingly positive and so it gave me the courage to continue sharing. After 2 .5 years of writing a BLOG I have decided to pour that energy into creating different types of content. About a year ago, my friend Lisa convinced me to post videos providing (I post it on my Facebook page) a glimpse into our lives meant to educate people on what autism looks like in our home. Again, I was amazed at the outpouring of support I recieved for the content I was posting. All of this combined has given me the courage to expand and want to share more of my journey.
I have decided that this website is the perfect place to share all of my thoughts, experiences, ideas, discoveries and knowledge. I am at my best and happiest when I am exploring my creative side and connecting with people. This website born to help demystify autism but is evolving into so much more. I hope you will enjoy
